MEDIA ADVISORY - MEDIA ROOM AVAILABLE, BEGINNING MAY 11th

Dear Media Partner,

It's that time again!

The Governor's Hurricane Conference is being held again this year at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The dates for this year's conference are Sunday through Friday, May 10 to 15, 2009.

More than 2,000 emergency managers and personnel, first responders, state, federal, volunteer agency, business and industry representatives, along with health and medical professionals from around the state, nation and world are participating. As of May 1st, more than 27 states, four foreign countries, and 62 Florida counties will be represented at the GHC.

As in past years, the Media Room will be an important offering as part of our conference. We are here to help you and your media organization make the best use of your time and resources for coverage of activities throughout the week.

To better serve your needs, I would like to inquire if your media organization is planning to cover the conference. Please visit our website at www.flghc.org so you and / or those designated to cover the conference may pre-register. You will find a fill-in-the-blanks form on the Media Room page. There you will need to share:

  • Who is the primary point of contact I should speak with?
  • Please provide names, office phones / cell phones / email addresses
  • Dates you / your field producers, reporters and or camera persons plan to be at conference (Example: 1 day, 2 days, entire week, etc. Please name actual days if possible).
  • Technical and Parking Needs (Very important for me to know ahead of time - will accommodate as best possible)
  • Parking (for media representatives only) has been reserved in the large open-air parking lot adjacent to the Convention Center (admittance requires media credential). Please contact Ann Rowe-McMullen at annrowe64@hotmail.com with any parking questions.

Your input / feedback will help me greatly in providing the best service to your organization now, and throughout the conference week.

Again, please take a moment, pre-register and send me your media organization's best guess in terms of what you anticipate your plans will be.

Ann Rowe-McMullen
